I help athletes develop the mental skills required to perform consistently under pressure, including focus, confidence, emotional regulation, and effective self-talk. Sessions are individualized and designed to meet the demands of your sport, season and performance goals.
Open to high school athletes and up. Younger athletes may be eligible at the discretion of Goodman Performance.

Mental Performance Coaching for Performing Artists
Individual mental performance coaching for dancers, actors, musicians, and other performing artists.
Performing artists operate in uniquely high-pressure environments — where confidence, focus, and self-trust are constantly tested. These one-on-one sessions are designed to support the mental demands of performance, including managing nerves, rebuilding confidence, navigating feedback, and performing consistently under scrutiny.
Sessions are tailored to the realities of your training and performance environment, helping you develop practical mental skills you can apply on stage, in rehearsal, and beyond.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this therapy? No. Mental performance coaching is different from traditional mental health therapy. Therapy often focuses on clinical mental health concerns, while mental performance coaching focuses on helping athletes and performers strengthen confidence, focus, resilience, and performance-related mental skills.
How long are sessions? Sessions are either 50 minutes or 30 minutes depending on the needs of the athlete or performer. 50 minute sessions are encouraged for individuals just starting mental performance coaching so there is time for skill building and to address performance needs.
How frequent are sessions? Sessions are typically held weekly or bi-weekly to allow for consistency, skill development, and application between sessions.
Do you work with youth athletes and performers? Yes, Goodman Performance does work with youth athletes and performers. It is recommended that kids should be at least 15 years old or in high school. However, Goodman Performance will work with younger children on a case by case basis.
Are sessions virtual or in-person? Most sessions with Goodman Performance are conducted virtually. In-person sessions are available for clients in Chicago, and in-person event or competition support may be available depending on location and scheduling.
What does a typical session look like? Sessions are tailored to the needs of the client. Athletes and performers will work on skills including but not limited to self-talk, goal setting, emotional regulation, focus, imagery and enhancing motivation.
How long will it take to see results? Timing varies depending on the client, goals, and consistency between sessions. Some athletes and performers benefit from short-term work around a specific challenge, while others choose to incorporate mental performance coaching throughout a season or career. Meaningful progress typically happens over time through consistent application of the skills discussed in sessions.
Do you work with teams or host workshops? Yes! Goodman Performance works with teams and is available for workshops. See the Team Coaching & Workshops page for more information.
Should mental performance training only happen during competition season? Not at all. The off-season is often one of the best times to build mental skills, routines, confidence, and recovery strategies without the immediate pressure of competition. During the season, sessions may focus more on performance preparation, emotional regulation, focus, and navigating competitive stressors in real time.
