Sports & Performance Psychology FAQ

How much of what you do is mental vs. physical?

As a sports psychologist, I use mental performance techniques, (known as mental skills training) to help individuals in performance based fields achieve their performance goals. Together, we will discover what your goals are and where you need to improve as a performer. Through mental skills training, I will help guide you to achieving your peak performance and build mental toughness.

Sports psychology is different from traditional mental health therapy. We will specifically work to enhance mental skills such as focus, confidence, resilience, and motivation to improve performance related to a sport or performing arts domain. Issues and situations that are outside of this setting should be talked through with a mental health therapist.

Sports Psychology Sessions Cover Some of the Following:

  • Thought regulation (including self-talk)

  • Emotional regualtion

  • Performance pressure

  • Performance anxiety

  • Goal setting

  • Motivation

  • Imagery

  • Focus, attention and concentration

  • Mental toughness

  • Routine

Who can benefit from working with a Sports Psychologist?

  • Athletes at a pre-professional or professional level.

  • Performing artists in dance, acting, music or any other performance based role.

  • Youth athletes and performers.

  • Business professionals that have a performance component to their role (sales, marketing, c-suite executives or anyone in a leadership position).
